There are 52 weeks in a year. 52 Sundays. If we minus 2 Sundays for general conference, and two Sundays for stake conference we are left with 48 Sundays. 48 opportunities each year to participate in the ordinance of the sacrament. I amguessing here, but I would venture to say that about 40 out of those 48bopportunities to partake of the sacrament, you will find me reading a certainbchapter in scripture as I seek to repent and draw closer to my Savior duringthis sacred time. And that chapter is

Fear not! I am with thee, oh, be not dismayed! ForI am thy God and will still give thee aid. I’ll strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand. Upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand! These are the words to one of my favorite hymns. And they are also the words of Isaiah! In Isaiah 41:10 we read—And if you are thinking that these words sound alittle softer than the previous two weeks of Isaiah-well you are right! There is definitely a tone and theme shift inthese coming chapters. Scholars

If you follow the ywworldwide and ymworldwide Instagramaccounts you may have seen last week that a lot of people are having questions about who is supposed to be leading these youth discussions. On the YW Instagram account it says, “remember you’re not assigning girls to lead the entirelesson. Instead, assign girls or leaders to ask one question and then begin the discussion for that question leaving plentyof time for others to comment. If you ask 3 questions you could have 3 discussion leaders

In one of our more popular and rousing hymns we singthe words, “O Babylon, O Babylon, we bid thee farewell. We’regoing to the mountains of Ephraim to dwell.” Have you ever stopped to wonder what those words means? I’ll be honest-I have never really given it a second thought! But studying these chapters in Isaiah has brought me to a greater understanding of what these phrases from a song really mean to a latter day member of the house of Israel. In srael’s early beginnings Babylon was not even

Elect, called, ordained, given, teach, work, invite, expound, preach, lead. These are allwords used by the Lord to describe what it looks like to be a covenant daughteror son of God. These words are invitations to act. They imply choosing toengage in the work of the gospel. Thismonth we have been learning more about priesthood keys and authority. One important aspect of priesthood keys andauthority to understand is that the reason the Lord has given us these keys andauthority is so that we can

President Oaks has said, “We are not accustomed to speakingof women having the authority of the priesthood in their Church callings, butwhat other authority can it be? When women -young or old- is set apart topreach the gospel as a full-time missionary, she is given priesthood authorityto perform a priesthood function. Thesame is true when a woman is set apart to function Iwas in training a couple of years ago by the general YW presidency and theytaught us that one of our main jobs is to prepare

Priesthood blessings aren't something youth have to wait for. Every one of God's children, right now, can receive ordinances and make covenants with Him because the priesthood was restored. And when a young person receives an assignment or a calling from someone with real authority, they can act in the name of God in that moment, right now, thisweek. That's the FSY chapter 9 material in a nutshell: accepting callings and serving faithfully, sustaining those God has called — which means

This is our last week in Psalms. And it’s gonna be a good one! In the CFM manual for this week, it teaches us that the traditional Jewish name for the book of Psalms is Tehillim, a Hebrew word that means praises. It’s related to the exclamation Hallelujah! And then the manual states, if you had to pick one word to sum up Psalms, praise would be a good choice! And praise would be a really good choice! But if I had to pick one word to sum up the Psalms for me it would be “lovingkindness”. Which

My finite mind cannot fathom how Jesus Christ did what He did. How He atoned for the whole of humanity, yet did it for each of us individually, one by one. As I have tried to understand that concept more, I have begun to notice this same pattern repeated throughout the gospel. One of the first places I noticed it was in the vision statement issued by the Utah Area Presidency. It says we are to search out and rescue the one, while faithfully ministering to the ninety and nine. This is how Christ

As of last week, we have hit the poetry section ofthe Old Testament. We learn from the CFM manual that, "The Books of Job, Psalms and Proverbs are almost entirely poetry, as are parts of the prophetic books like Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Amos."In the Bible Dictionary entry for Psalms we read, "Out of a total of 283 direct citations from the Old Testament in the New Testament, 116 have been counted from this onebook" — meaning Psalms. But sometimes we approach the familiar with less inquisitiveness-so we don’t want to let how well we know this story keep us from seeking to come away from our study having learned more about our Savior.
