On International Women’s Day, the BC government decided to celebrate women by introducing legislation that would wipe out more than 2300 references to women’s pronouns in the province’s legislation. However, at the beginning of February, in response to pressure from the public, the media, and medical professionals, the government introduced Bill C-39 to extend that deadline by one year, to March 17, 2024. Thankfully, that bill received royal assent on March 9, just eight days before the planned expansion.
