SPREADING DOGBANE

There is a weed-type plant in one location at the Center covered with tiny pinkish white flowers attracting butterflies and other insects. I suspect that by its name, “spreading dogbane”; it is now found in many flower gardens. GLITTER IN THE WOODS

Every once in a while, my eyes will catch a bright flash of glitter as I walk the trails on the mountain. It is mica, a thin component of some of the rocks on the land. It is the basis of isinglass, used in the windows of wood and early gas stoves.
