David Fincher's latest release sees Michael Fassbender deliver an exceptional performance as 'The Killer'. There's much to adore from this noir thriller; the cinematography, the score courtesy of the goats Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, to just the overall intense story itself. It's certainly one of the best films dropped this year - as well, one of the best Fincher films.

Daryl Dixon’s spin off has come to a close! This show has certainly been a lot of fun, and one that seems to have developed Daryl’s character even further. Episode 6 didn’t go out with as big a bang as I hoped (the opening 5 or 10 mins however were bloody ace), as it focused more on the personal and inner turmoil of Daryl deciding whether to leave his new home in France, and go back to home in America. Episode 5 returned to form for 'Daryl Dixon', packing some major punches and setting us up for an exciting finale. With details of just how Daryl ended up in France finally explained, in addition to some brilliant, and fast walker sequences, episode 5 was a great penultimate episode packed to the brim with some stand out performances courtesy of Clémence Poésy and Anne Charrier. After directing the recent 'Halloween' trilogy, David Gordon Green returns with his next project; tackling a brand new series of 'The Exorcist' films. This latest release 'Believer' is set to be the start of a trilogy, however, the film doesn’t do an awful lot to get you excited for any more films that are to follow. The hunt for Laurent is on in episode 4 of 'Daryl Dixon', as not only are Isabelle and Daryl looking to retrieve the boy, but too are former flame Quinn, and the intense Genet, along with her mercenaries of the Power of the Living. This episode was simply all filler no killer, sure, it had decent moments; the shots around the Eiffel Tower cannot go without a mention, and too the brilliant chemistry between Norman Reedus and Clémence Poésy. But this episode seemed to focus on some very dull subplots

If it's Halloween… it must be Saw. The tenth instalment of the iconic horror franchise was one that I was absolutely looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. 'Saw X' is up there as one of the best of the entire saga. From the gnarly traps, Charlie Clouser’s impeccable score, and an emotional performance from lead Tobin Bell, 'Saw X' will please not only fans of the franchise, but horror fans in general. Gareth Edwards returns to the directors chair for 'The Creator' pitting humanity against A.I. in this sci-fi blockbuster. Edwards' previous work has catapulted him to being one of my all-time favourite directors, and so I was excited to see what promised to be a visually stunning piece of cinema. The trailers gave the impression that this was just a straight up home invasion – but with aliens, however, this is so vastly different to what you’re expecting. Episode 2 of 'Daryl Dixon' brought us closer to the start of the outbreak than ever before. With some great suspense and set pieces, Paris’ fall has never looked as terrifying through the eyes of Clémence Poésy’s Isabelle. Ep 2 really was Isabelle’s story, and a real insight of her journey to where she is now. In addition, the episode included some heartwarming moments, as Daryl and co stumble upon a new settlement of young survivors.

A Haunting in Venice

Hercule Poirot returns in this latest adaptation of Agatha Christie’s work. Loosely based on the 1969 novel ‘Hallowe'en Party’; ‘A Haunting in Venice’ brings ghosts and ghouls into the frame, leading Poirot to question just what exactly is real and what is not. Kenneth Branagh is doing a terrific job with the character, and I’ve enjoyed all three releases so far. The latest superhero to hit screens is ‘Blue Beetle’, a character I had NO idea of prior to its announcement and release in general. This origin story doesn’t do anything massively different from any other origin story you may have seen, and it certainly wasn’t the best watch due to its pretty dull plot and awful bad guys – however, the real driving force for this story is family. What better way to come from back from Disneyland than review the latest release from Disney; ‘Haunted Mansion’.
