The first African country to qualify for the FIBA World Cup on first attempt, South Sudan Basketball Bright stars, have kicked off preparations for the tournament barely a week after their qualification. The team came back from Cairo on Tuesday this week after winning all three games against Senegal, the DR Congo and the host – Egypt. 2193: Central Equatoria Livestock Show

The Livestock keepers in Central Equatoria State recently presented their cows, sheep, and goats at a livestock show meant to promote commercialization of livestock. The animals which were categorized according to their age and sex, were evaluated by Judges who were trained by FAO and the US Civil Affairs Veterinarians. The adjudicators came up with the top three winners in each category who walked away with prize money. Miraya’s Henry Lukuri covered the event. Take a listen.

UN Mine action notes that 40% of grounds cleared of unexploded ordinance in the country are being used for cultivation.
