A Lighter Touch is a $27 million, seven-year collaboration between the horticulture, arable and wine sectors to shift the focus from traditional crop protection. A Lighter Touch’s programme director Livia Esterhazy tells Alison Stewart that a lot of tools and technologies are being tested from biologicals and beneficials to AI, with a goal of being adopted by growers.

FAR’s Cultivar Evaluation booklet for autumn sown wheat and barley will be available this month, based on the 2023 harvest’s CPT trial results. FAR’s senior cereal researcher Jo Drummond tells Alison Stewart that some cultivars have seen changes to their disease ratings, particularly for leaf rust. She gives a preview of the yields and disease ratings for a cross section of feed and milling wheat cultivars.
