Here is a quick down and dirty on how I make videos / commercials in iMovie. Unfortunately, it didn't pick up the sound when I was playing it on the share screen but I think it still gets the point across. If you have questions feel free to reach out. Best way to learn it is to just get in it and play with it. Don't forget google is your best friend when learning a new program like iMovie. It never gets upset when you ask it to help. lol.
