Cloudy skies for the weekend

This weekend brings cloudy and quiet conditions to the region. Starting Friday conditions are cloudy with light winds, a big chance of pace for areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin after the mid-week snow storm. Heading into Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will be fairly consistent in the 20s.

The holiday weekend will be a quiet one with seasonable temperatures, light wind, and mostly cloudy skies. Saturday will bring a few more clouds, but temperatures will stay seasonably warm in the 20s and 30s. The wind will stay calm through Sunday, with another nice day in the forecast. However, the next chance of snow will start to move into the region late Sunday afternoon.

Out with the snow, in with the cold

The winter storm that has been with us the past couple of days will finally be on the way out. Friday evening will still see some leftover snow showers over the region, but the bulk of the heavy snow has past. The winds will still be around Friday evening, at around 15-25 mph in the Dakotas and areas of western and central Minnesota. Saturday will finally bring some quieter weather, but the cold starts to return. For Sunday, the temperatures continue to take a drop.

A fairly quiet Thanksgiving weekend

Most of the region will experience mild temperatures on Friday despite the passage of a cold front on Thursday. Cooler air may still be hanging on across portions of Minnesota and Wisconsin where highs will generally be in the 30s and 40s. Temperatures will be cold on Friday as well and with the combination of these strong winds will make for a bitter finish to this work week. Cold and stable weather this weekend

The breeze will stick around on the back side of the low pressure system that brought rain/snow/freezing rain Thursday into Thursday night. A few lingering snow showers can't be ruled out for northern Minnesota, but don't expect much in terms of accumulating snow. Friday will just be a cold and breezy day for most. This is what it may feel like for the region as we close out the work week. This is only the beginning of a cold trend that starts Friday and may last through all of next week.

We'll close out this work week with quiet weather for the Dakotas and most of western and northern Minnesota. Showers will be possible for southeastern Minnesota and up through Wisconsin Friday. Deer opener for North Dakota on Friday will feature cooler temperatures, plenty of sunshine, and fairly light winds in central and eastern parts of the state. Minnesota will wake up to mainly 30s on Saturday morning's deer opener. With a little wind out there it may feel like lower 20s for some.

The final days of October bring nice dry and mild weather to our region. Friday brings plenty of sunshine with highs in the 60s for most of the Northland. For Saturday and Sunday the nice weather keeps on going. Showers move into the western Dakotas keeping temperatures much cooler there compared to the rest of the region. Showers will move across eastern parts of the Dakotas and into Minnesota on Friday. While precipitation doesn't appear to stay heavy or even moderate, I'm still seeing periods of showers to last throughout the day. I'm seeing a chance of showers mainly across northern and north-central Minnesota and into Wisconsin. The Dakotas look dry Saturday with a little wind picking up out of the northwest. High pressure will build back into the Northern Plains on Sunday.

This weekend is shaping up to have generally lighter winds. We've had a breeze for parts of the area to finish out the work week, but both Saturday and Sunday will have light breezes here and there. Temperatures will be cool for northern and northeastern parts of North Dakota and up into extreme northwestern Minnesota. A few scattered showers and an occasional rumble can't be ruled out. Saturday is not shaping up to be a washout, but any outdoor plans should have a back up.

A cold front will keep most of the region cool to finish off this work week. Behind the front I'm seeing showers linger for eastern Minnesota and across Wisconsin Friday. The Red River Valley and most of the Dakotas will stay dry Friday. Our high temperatures will be much cooler this weekend behind this cold front. Highs will top off in the 60s to lower 70s for most of the region.
