Second "half" of The Aeneid with new invocation of the Muse. Mirrors the Iliad theme of war. Aeneas lands in Latium at the mouth of Tiber. Initially all goes well, but then the gods stir up war over a woman - also mirroring the Trojan war. Aeneas' mom, Venus, asks Vulcan to make him new armor, especially a shield - like Achilles' mom obtained for him in the Iliad.
