A 10-year-old who was reported as missing and endangered in Hinds County on Thursday has been found and is safe. Gorgeuss McGrew's biological mother, who didn't have custody of the little girl, allegedly kidnapped her from a bus stop at 7 a.m., forcing her into a vehicle driven by an unidentified man. The mother, Dessan R. Riley, has a history of mental illness and drug abuse. McGrew has been in the custody of her legal guardian since she was six months old. Riley will be extradited to Jackson to

The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index rose 1.7 points in July to 100.3, slightly above the 52-year average of 98. Leah Long, the NFIB Director for Mississippi and Louisiana, told us owners are reporting more positive expectations on business conditions and expansion opportunities. Twenty-one percent of small business owners reported labor quality as their single most important problem, up five points from June and ranking as the top problem.
