Another tropical wave is further east, southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Cases of Vibrio vulnificus, or flesh-eating bacteria, continue to rise along the Gulf Coast. 77-year-old Bay St. Louis resident Basil Kennedy recently passed away after contracting the bacteria. According to WLOX, another Bay St. Louis man was rushed to the hospital in July after contracting the flesh-eating bacteria after spending a day on the water. 64-year-old Brian Schilling underwent several surgeries to try to save his leg, but doctors were forced to amputate.

A Batesville woman charged with attempted murder after allegedly planting a homemade bomb outside a person's car is facing new charges. 27-year-old Christina Willis has been in custody since August 4. Jackson father shot during car break-in

A Jackson man is recovering from a shooting that occurred when he stepped outside his home on Dorgan Street over the weekend, and saw someone in his truck.
