Before he became a well-known sports official in Montana and well beyond, Glen Welch was an outstanding athlete at Butte High School and the University of Montana. The speedy All-State receiver helped lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back State titles in 1967 and 1968. He was then part of a back-to-back conference championship team with the Grizzlies.
