When you grant a portion of your royalty right to someone without granting any of the other rights, you are granting what is called a Non-Participating Royalty Interest (NPRI). It does not “participate” in the ability to receive bonus payment or delay rentals, or the executive rights. A Non-Participating Royalty Interest or NPRI allows the owner to receive a portion of the royalty payments from any oil and gas that is sold but does not give them the right to lease the associated mineral rights.
