MONTGOMERY — Alabama shoppers saw two major sales- tax changes at the register starting Monday. The state’s sales tax on groceries dropped from 3 percent to 2 percent, and a new three-year exemption removed the 4 percent state sales tax from a list of baby, maternity and menstrual products. Washington County gets $400K to fix wood bridges

Washington County has received a 0,000 grant to repair aging wooden bridges, county engineer Danny Overton announced at the Aug. 25 county commission meeting.
