Interview: Author Kier-La Janisse on House of...

Horror Queers ·

2022/10/28

In honor of the 10th anniversary expanded edition of her iconic text House of Psychotic Women, we sat down with author Kier-La Janisse (also the award-winning documentary filmmaker of Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched: A History of Folk Horror). Our connection was shaky (hence some spotty audio), but we asked Kier-La about the reception (then and now) of the book, which films readers should prioritize and why we're unlikely to see a HoPW documentary series in the future. Questions? Comments? Snark

We're back with S02E04 of Chucky, an episode that sees the return of Glen and Glenda in a "very special episode" that's sure to please anyone who's a fan of Seed of Chucky. We've got a Clue-themed narrative, a sitcom-y wraparound story, and a Bound reunion! It's the most meta that Chucky has ever been, for better and for worse. Questions? Comments? Snark? The Invitation (2015)

Horror Queers ·

2022/10/19

We're celebrating episode 200 with a five star film: Karyn Kusama's masterful The Invitation (2015). Every aspect of this film is sheer perfection (direction, editing, score, lighting, screenplay and acting). We're obsessed with the layered and nuanced depiction of grief, Will as an unreliable protagonist, terrifying character actor John Carroll Lynch and the glorious house porn. Plus: speculation about the after life, why Kira wins Best Girlfriend, good queer representation, as well as blow and

Chucky S02E02: 'The Sinners Are Much More Fun'

Horror Queers ·

We're in disagreement about the second episode of S02: Trace likes how quickly things are advancing, while Joe is frustrating by the lack of Devon & Jake content.
