While Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke and U.S. Attorney Todd Gee both say the investigation will not be confined to a single incident, individual, or unit, they noted that the January 2023 assaults by the deputies called the Goon Squad could be evidence of wider spread misuse of police force.
