Welcome to the Scary Stuff Podcast's first BONUS episode! :) Continuing our Mike Flanagan theme from Episode Four, we were excited to review Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016). However, to put that movie in the proper context, we first had to discuss the original Ouija (2014) directed by Stiles White. This time around, the Scary Stuff trio focuses on five movies from one of our favorite directors: Mike Flanagan. We start with his breakthrough horror movie Absentia (2011), then review the long-delayed Before I Wake (2016), the tense thriller Hush (2016), and finally a duo of Stephen King adaptations: Gerald's Game (2017) and Doctor Sleep (2019). The Scary Stuff trio caught the 2020 movie release Underwater during its theatrical run, so our latest episode takes a deep dive into four other aquatic horror movies alongside it. We start on the shore with Barry Levinson's found-footage movie The Bay (2012), head out to the ocean's surface with Stephen Sommer's Deep Rising (1998) before settling on the ocean floor with the 1989 duo of Deepstar Six and Leviathan.
