£186 Million in FCA Fines — And It All Started at Hiring

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

2026/04/14

FCA fines quadrupled to £186 million in 2024/25 — and the common thread running through Nationwide, Barclays, and Monzo's enforcement actions? Screening failures. For HR directors at SM&CR-regulated firms, this is a wake-up call that hiring is now a compliance event. In this episode, we break down what the Senior Managers and Certification Regime actually demands from your hiring process — six-year regulatory references, criminal record checks, PEPs screening, annual re-certification — and why the

The August 2026 AI Deadline HR Teams Can't Ignore

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

2026/04/14

The EU AI Act's August 2026 enforcement deadline is arriving fast, and HR teams using AI in hiring, performance reviews, or workforce decisions are directly in scope. Most HR leaders assume it's a legal or tech problem — but it's not. If your company uses AI to screen resumes, rank candidates, or assess employees, you're operating a high-risk AI system under this law. In this episode, we break down what "high-risk" actually means for HR, the three concrete actions you need to take right now, and

The HR AI That Actually Does the Work

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

2026/04/13

Most HR AI tools help employees find answers. They summarize policies, point you to portals, maybe auto-fill a field or two. ServiceNow just shipped something fundamentally different. EmployeeWorks, launched in February 2026, converts plain-language employee requests into multi-step workflows that actually execute — across Workday, SAP, Coupa, and ServiceNow itself. No ticket created. No queue entered. Benefits updated, PTO booked, records changed. Done. Built on Moveworks technology from a $2.85

AI Skills on Resumes vs. Reality: How to Actually...

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

If AI proficiency commands a 25–28% salary premium, it's going to show up on almost every resume — whether or not it belongs there. Candidates aren't necessarily lying. They're optimistically rounding up. But for hiring teams, the result is the same: you're making compensation decisions based on self-reported AI capability with no reliable way to verify it. In this episode, we break down the three structured interview dimensions that actually separate genuine AI proficiency from resume inflation:

The 28% Pay Gap Nobody Warned HR About

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

2026/04/11

Something unexpected is happening inside large organizations right now. Two analysts, same company, same title, same years of experience — one is earning significantly more than the other. The difference? AI proficiency. And we're not talking about AI specialists versus everyone else. We're talking about a 25 to 28% pay premium appearing within the same job categories, for roles that were never defined as "AI jobs." In this episode, we dig into the data — from LinkedIn Workforce Insights, Indeed's

One Platform, Five HR Systems: Rippling's AI Bet on...

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

2026/04/11

What if your biggest obstacle to useful AI in HR isn't the AI itself — it's the fragmented mess of systems your data lives in? That's exactly the argument Rippling is making with Rippling Intelligence, their AI layer that launched in late 2024 and expanded through 2025. Most mid-sized companies run anywhere from six to twelve separate HR systems — payroll here, HRIS there, ATS from someone else, benefits from another vendor. Each one holds a piece of the employee record, and none of them talk to

Accenture didn't just announce a big AI training initiative — they delivered. 300,000 employees trained in two years, 98% of client projects now AI-augmented, and internal teams cutting research time in half. That's not a press release. That's a blueprint. In this episode, we break down how LearnVantage, Accenture's internal AI learning platform, made the difference between a corporate checkbox and a genuine capability shift. The secret? They didn't start with the technical staff — they built for

How One HR Team Turned Compliance Panic Into a...

The 2026 compliance wave is landing — Colorado's AI Act goes live June 30, NYC's Local Law 144 is already in effect, and the EU AI Act classifies all employment AI as high-risk. Most HR leaders are treating this as a threat. But a mid-market professional services firm did something different: they used the deadline as a forcing function to rebuild their hiring stack from scratch — and came out faster, more defensible, and with candidates who trusted them more. In this episode, we walk through how a

Colorado's AI Act takes effect June 30, 2026. If you're using AI to screen candidates in Colorado, you're now a "Deployer" of a "High-Risk System." Add NYC's Local Law 144 (already in effect), Illinois's disparate impact rules, and the EU AI Act, and most HR teams are staring at a compliance nightmare. But here's what one 1,200-person firm figured out: the companies that move first on compliance don't just avoid lawsuits — they build faster, more defensible hiring pipelines and candidate trust that

Skills-Based Hiring Has a Hidden Bias Problem You're...

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

2026/04/09

Seventy percent of employers now claim to practice skills-based hiring, and more than half have removed degree requirements from their job postings. But here's the part nobody's talking about: ninety percent of those same employers still run every applicant through AI screening tools trained on credential-heavy, historically biased data. Removing the gate doesn't change anything if you keep the gatekeeper. A University of Washington study found that recruiters mirrored AI-generated candidate

Your AI Sets Pay. Four States Are Now Watching.

Four US states just introduced bills targeting AI compensation algorithms — and they want to know if your pay decisions are fair. Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, and New York are zeroing in on tools that use personal data unrelated to job performance: biometrics, parenthood status, even home address. Add the EU Pay Transparency Directive landing in August 2026, and the compliance window is closing fast. In this episode, we break down why AI pay tools encode the bias you thought you'd fixed, what

Every major HR tech vendor now ships AI agents — Workday, Oracle, SAP, ServiceNow, Microsoft. They all pitch the same thing: faster automation, fewer clicks. But Gloat just stepped into that crowded room with a different argument entirely. On March 31, 2026, Gloat launched Agentic HR, built on the Loomra Workforce Context Engine — nine years of enterprise AI research focused on skills, roles, and workforce dynamics inside real organizations. Their CEO put it simply: "An agent without context is

Two retail giants are facing the same AI wave — and making opposite bets. Walmart just enrolled all 1.6 million of its U.S. and Canadian workers in free AI training. Amazon cut 14,000 jobs. For CHROs watching from the sidelines, this isn't a theoretical debate anymore. It's playing out at scale, right now. SAP Just Put an AI Agent Inside Your Performance Reviews

AI HR Daily by OVI ·

SAP has done something that sounds simple but is actually a significant shift: it embedded an AI agent directly inside the performance review workflow in SuccessFactors. Not a chatbot bolted onto a sidebar. An agent that proactively surfaces what managers need before they sit down with an employee. The Performance and Goals agent is live now for the 10,000-plus enterprises already running SuccessFactors. And four more agents — covering career development, HR self-service, workforce analytics, and

Only 11% of organizations have embedded AI into their daily HR workflows. Meanwhile, a small cohort of enterprises — Microsoft, Roblox, Google, Mastercard, ServiceNow — isn't piloting anymore. They're running full autonomous agent stacks across recruiting, onboarding, and performance management with minimal human intervention. Josh Bersin's latest research has mapped over 100 discrete agentic HR use cases, and estimates that 30–40% of current HR roles will shift within roughly 18 months. The

When Klarna's CEO stood up and said "we went too far" with AI-driven workforce cuts, he wasn't being humble — he was describing a 22% customer satisfaction collapse that couldn't be hidden. The fintech giant had replaced 700 customer service roles with AI, watched satisfaction crater, and was now scrambling to hire humans back.
