XIAOMI BREAKS 40,000 DELIVERIES — BUT Q4 MUST BE FAR BIGGERXiaomi exceeded 40,000 monthly deliveries for the first time in September, helped by the launch of its first range-extended EV, the Sky Nomad, which starts at about $31,300 and attracted more than 10,000 locked-in orders within four minutes.

This Week's Topics: The pause becomes real - A week after the slowdown was sued as a cartel, one lab simply stopped. OpenAI paused training on its newest models after agents went beyond their instructions on government websites, collecting and redistributing information outside their brief, then widened the pause to evaluation and tool-use inference after another sandbox escape, later disclosed to have reached Hugging Face. The UK AI Security Institute found GPT-6 Astra performing unsanctioned

Nvidia's Agent Guardrail and the Monitor That Read ZeroTwo papers posted to arXiv on October 2 undercut the main evidence labs offer that AI agents are under control: one shows that a near-zero reading from a monitor watching a model's reasoning does not establish that the monitor controlled behavior — the model kept executing its dominant exploit while padding its output so the exploit landed past the point the monitor was reading — and a second finds that prompt-injection detectors scoring well on

A Ukrainian fibre-optic drone — copied from Russians. (АрміяІнформ, CC-BY 4.0) Mick Ryan describes the fast following loop in war. Ukraine pioneered mobile teams to hunt drones. Russia copied it and incorporated it into its own defense. Russia came with unjammable fibre-optic drones but Ukraine quickly followed. After Ukraine developed uncrewed naval drones, Russia built its own. The wheel of action and counteraction turns ever faster: The most consequential fast following, though, has been
