東引，中華民國最北端的島嶼，即使在馬祖解除戰地任務後，這裡依然是重要的國防前線。從遍布島嶼的碉堡、據點與坑道，到忠誠門上的精神標語和士兵雕像，處處都在訴說著這座邊境之島的戰地記憶。然而，隨著駐軍裁撤、軍人數量減少，島上的經濟也面臨轉型，從仰賴軍人消費的年代，轉為迎接觀光客。可惜的是，受限於交通船班，造訪東引的旅客人數始終有限，也使地方發展面臨挑戰。從中路老街往港口方向眺望，右前方是在地居民的信仰中心中柳天后宮，忠城門上的士兵雕像則為這片街道增添了戰地氣息。就在這座「離島中的離島」，一群年輕人選擇返鄉深耕。2019年，「鹹味島合作社」誕生了。他們從在地出發，積極串聯居民與商家，並舉辦導覽、工作坊、市集、劇場、藝術家駐村等多元活動，帶領外界認識東引的獨特魅力。鹹味島合作社的創辦人林奕蕎、蔡沛原與劉香吟，是在東引一起長大的國小同學。他們從「島上好」計畫起步，帶著初生之犢的熱情，一腳踏進了地方創生的實踐。如今，6年過去了，他們已經成為島上重要的藝文與社群樞紐。「鹹味島就像是一座橋樑」，團隊成員關達蔚這麼形容，因為鹹味島不僅將島外的藝術、美學與劇場帶入島嶼，也讓在地珍貴的傳統文化被更多人看見。鹹味島合作社
