In this reflection, I contemplate the significance of active service and spiritual devotion while discussing the biblical passage of Martha and Mary from the Gospel of Luke. He emphasizes that welcoming Jesus into every aspect of daily life is essential, warning against a myopic perspective that misinterprets personal suffering and divine intent. Furthermore, the homily reflects on the personal nature of God's relationship with humanity, noting that troubles and crosses are expressions of

Sailing with Grace: The Journey to Sanctification ·...

Divine grace is the true driving force behind human holiness, much as a sailboat relies on the wind rather than on oarsmen who exhaust themselves. Reflecting on the canonization anniversary of St. Josemaría Escrivá, I emphasize that spiritual purity is fundamentally God's workmanship, not the result of purely human willpower or straining effort. Because our fallen human nature clings to pride and earthly attachments, God must painfully chisel away our flaws and imperfections, much like a dentist

Making Friends With The Lord Jesus ·

2026/09/21

This reflection examines a passage from St. Luke’s Gospel in which Jesus identifies his true family as those who hear and obey the word of God. I highlight that, although God reaches out to humanity, individuals must develop inner quiet and focus to truly receive spiritual guidance. By referencing personal challenges with modern distractions such as smartphones and social media, I demonstrate how constant noise makes it difficult to discern God’s promptings. The main point is that a deep

This passage looks at the meaning behind the Feast of St. Matthew, focusing on how Jesus chose a tax collector—someone many saw as a sinner—to be his apostle. The author reminds us that God’s grace isn’t just for those who seem good; it’s actually meant to comfort people who admit their mistakes. Like a doctor helps those who are sick, Jesus welcomes those who feel unworthy. The story encourages us to be humble and to use the sacraments, especially confession, to grow in faith. In the end, the

The Exaltation of the Holy Cross stands as a powerful testament to the heart of Christian faith. This sacred symbol is not just an ornament or a general idea—it is the very cornerstone upon which Christianity rests. I share a moving encounter with a forgotten crucifix, reminding us that this image is a vivid call to remember Christ’s ultimate act of love: laying down His life to redeem us from our sins. The cross is far more than a concept or tradition; it marks a real, transformative moment in

We have a religious reflection centered on the Gospel of Luke and the spiritual value of living an obscure or hidden life. I draw parallels between the Virgin Mary’s quiet support and the unheralded logistical teams that enabled General Patton’s military success, suggesting that small, unseen actions matter immensely. By examining Jesus’ return to Nazareth, the narrative explores how his former neighbors struggled to accept his Messiahship because of his ordinary upbringing. The homily encourages

This recording is a religious reflection exploring the foundational tension between divine authority and human suffering found in the Gospel of Matthew. I discuss the significant moment when Jesus names Peter the “rock” of the Church, only to immediately rebuke him for rejecting the prophecy of the upcoming Passion and Crucifixion. By comparing Peter’s resistance to the pride of fallen angels, the homily emphasizes that avoiding hardship is a human impulse rather than a divine one. Using the

I highlight Bartholomew’s transparency and lack of deceit, contrasting his sincerity with the modern tendency to spread misinformation and make snap judgments. By referencing the saint’s martyrdom and artistic depiction in the Sistine Chapel, the homily connects historical suffering with the virtue of integrity. The speaker calls on

Today’s homily features a personal reflection delivered on a humid Sunday morning, blending intimate reflections with scriptural analysis of Matthew's Gospel. I recount the death anniversary of my mother before transitioning into a discussion on Jesus’ visit to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter identifies Christ as divine. A central theme of the message is that faith is a gift of grace from God, not a result of human intelligence or data collection. The homily highlights how Jesus changed Simon’s

Today’s homily offers a spiritual reflection on a passage from the Gospel of Matthew, focusing on the spiritual dangers of wealth and the need to detach from worldly possessions. The speaker explains that Jesus uses the hyperbole of a camel passing through the eye of a needle not to condemn the rich, but to show how material attachments can hinder one’s relationship with God. While human effort alone cannot achieve salvation, the reflection emphasizes that divine grace makes the impossible possible

The spiritual significance of St. Mary Magdalene is highlighted by her unique title as the apostle to the apostles for being the first to witness and share the news of Christ's resurrection. When informed that his mother and brothers wished to speak with him, Jesus responded by asking, 'Who is my mother? And who are my brothers?' He then declared that whoever does the will of his heavenly Father is his true family. Closeness to Christ and entry into heaven depend on actively seeking and doing God's will, which is presented as an 'iron rule.' This requires regular self-examination and discerning God's specific calling for each individual, which necessitates prayer

I emphasize that Jesus criticized their lack of faith, pointing to the sign of Jonah and his own future resurrection as the ultimate proof of his divinity. By comparing Jesus to figures like Solomon and the prophet Jonah, the gospel illustrates that Christ represents something far greater than any historical predecessor. Jesus’s material presence is also

The consideration draws on several parables from the Gospel of Matthew to explain how good and evil coexist in the world. By examining the story of the wheat and the weeds, I suggest that the presence of corruption serves to test and refine the virtuous until the final harvest. Additionally, the parable of the yeast is highlighted to illustrate how divine grace often begins

This homily examines a scriptural passage from St. Matthew where the Pharisees accuse Jesus’s disciples of violating the Sabbath by gathering grain to eat as they were passing by. I explain that the religious leaders prioritized external legalism over internal conversion, failing to recognize the hierarchy of moral duties. By referencing King David and the duties of temple priests, the reflection illustrates that the law of charity and the preservation of life take precedence over ritualistic rest
