Als die Sonne ihre Kinder fraß

translunar: ·

2026/09/16

Little Red Dots - mit großem dunklen Geheimnis?

translunar: ·

2026/08/19

The Sunset Solar Eclipse

translunar: ·

2026/08/05

Very soon, on the evening of August 12th, there will be a special event for us to behold. Well, for some of us. The solar eclipse will be visibile in its totality in Iceland, Greenland and parts of Spain and Portugal as well as some mediterranian islands. But even in the rest of western Europe, people will be able to witness at least a partial eclipse. In the southern parts of Germany, coverage of the sun will be up to 89%. So get your solar eclipse safetly glasses out and check in with Paul to

Ein riesen Pech: Woher stammte der Dinokiller-Asteroid?

translunar: ·

2026/07/22

The Moon Base is Coming!

translunar: ·

2026/07/09

A permanent base on the moon - sounds like science fiction? Well, it may be way closer than you migh believe. Within the Artemis program, a lunar outpost is actually part of the plan. It is clear: this time, we go to the moon to stay. So, we might see the first lunar base built within our lifetimes, as a space port for deeper missions, maybe even as a mining hub and definitely as a place for amazing science! What does it take to build a moon base? When will it be operational? Who will build it? Paul

Wo kommen sie her?

Denn

The Big Dipper: Secrets of the best known constellation

translunar: ·

2026/05/13

If you had to find one single constellation in the night sky and get it right, which one would you chose? Most people would probably go for the big dipper. It is very recognizable, easy to find, always up in the sky and pretty large. But there is more to the seven bright stars, which form a part of Ursa Major. In fact, there are several little secrets that are not only intriguing but useful as well! Freshen up you big-dipper-knowledge on this week's translunar: epsiode with Paul! Further reading:

The New Artemis Plan to reach the Moon in 2028

translunar: ·

2026/04/16

Artemis II is back! For the first time in over fifty years, humans ventured beyond the low Earth orbit. The first woman, the first person of color and the first non-US-American to go this far. Indeed, they truly went further than ever before, breaking the record for the largest distance any humans every traveled from Earth. What can be said about this mission now? What happened, did everything run smoothly? Are we set to land on the moon soon, putting footprints into lunar sand once

It's Good to be King: Mighty Jupiter

translunar: ·

2026/02/18

Have you seen the very bright star within the constellation Gemini in the evening skies lately? That is, in fact, no star at all! It's the king of the planets, the biggest and largest: Jupiter. Jupiter is more massive than all the other planets combined. The light we see coming from it is actually sunlight, reflected of its large surface. Due to its relative proximity, compared to stars in the night sky, it appears very bright. Easily spotable with the naked eye and beautiful to behold in even

2026/02/04

To most of us, the sun is a symbol for the day. For the light hours, for morning and noon. But that is, in fact, not always the case on this planet. There are places where the sun shines at night, at midnight to be precise. Place high up north oder low down south. Places with different cycles of day and night and even summer and winter. Paul takes you on a journey to midsummer's eve in Norway. The land of the midnight sun, where you'll learn all about it and how Earth and Sun move around each

Humans have pushed the frontiers of exploration in space by sending probes to the edge of our Solar System and beyond. Just how far have we traveled, and what have we seen along the way? How do we keep in touch with the most distant objects, and what is left to learn from these probes? We will look at the very old Pioneer and Voyager missions past Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, as well as the New Horizons mission past Pluto and into the Kuiper Belt.Links for further reading and

All the Colors of the Stars

translunar: ·

2025/05/14

Stars appear mostly white to our naked eye in the night sky. Sometimes maybe a little red or yellow. But only faintly. In reality however, stars are as colorful as a rainbow! And their colors tell us a lot about the properties of each individual star, like a calling card. Their age, size, temperature, past and sometimes even their future is encoded in their chromatic appearance. Paul sets out with you on a tour of the colors of the night sky, through red, yellow, blue and more! Host: Paul
