Ep. 62: 2026-2027 Season Preview

BOOM and Gloom ·

2026/10/05

Normally season previews are done before a season starts. Well, not this season preview! Jackets are two games into the 2026-2027 season. I'll talk about that and give my opinions and analysis regarding players and staff. AND, my playoff prediction.

Ep. 61: Goodbye (and Good Riddance), Marchy!

BOOM and Gloom ·

2026/09/29

This is a knee jerk episode! I recorded this just a couple of hours after learning about the trade of Karill Marchenko to the Toronto Maple Leafs. I'll talk about the trade, the signing of Adam Fantilli, and add my thoughts about the new Columbus Blue Jackets TV Network. Keep in mind that I recorded this quickly without a whole lot of time to process the trade today. Take anything I say, including the quoted contract amounts, player information, and statistics with a grain of salt.

Ep. 60: Fantilli: No News is Bad News

BOOM and Gloom ·

2026/09/20

I've been waiting for Adam Fantilli to sign to put out a new episode. Since that STILL hasn't happened, I figure I would just chime in with a new episode and discuss the situation. Time to play the blame game. I'll also discuss the debacle that is Karill Marchenko and some other tidbits of CBJ news as training camp moves on...without Fantilli.

Ep. 59: 'Member the Good Ol' Days?

BOOM and Gloom ·

2026/08/13

I am back to complain more about the Blue Jackets! I wish I had more positive things to talk about but these days in Blue Jackets Land have been pretty dark and dreary. In this episode I'll talk about the departures of Bob McElligott and Jeff Svoboda (and why I feel it was a bad team decision to let them go), the new ECHL affiliate for the Jackets, and why I yearn for the "good ol' days" of CBJ hockey.

Ep. 55: Grading the 2025-26 Blue Jackets

BOOM and Gloom ·

2026/04/28

I listen to several Blue Jackets podcasts. On one I really enjoy (Cannon Balls with Michael Arace), his crew gave the Blue Jackets grades based on their 2025-26 season performance. As a teacher, I was very intrigued and thought that I should take a stab at grading the Jackets myself. So here you go, my player grades for the 2025-26 season...as well as some other tidbit of CBJ news!

Ep. 54: The Pain that April Brings

BOOM and Gloom ·

2026/04/17

Want to hear a guy rant about the Blue Jackets' disappointing season for an hour? Well you are in the right place. The 2025-26 season is in the books and ended with, you guessed it, the Jackets missing out on the playoffs yet again. In this episode I'll talk about what happened (this time) and what needs to be done going forward to maybe, somehow, finally become a playoff team again.

Ep. 53: Never Count This Team In

BOOM and Gloom ·

2026/03/31

Misery loves company. That is the purpose of this episode. If you are a frustrated Blue Jackets fan like me right now, join me and lets commiserate together. I don't have any profound insights or perspective today. You won't come away with any new Blue Jackets knowledge. Everything I have to say, you probably already know. You'll just know that you aren't the only one feeling the frustration yet again with this team.

Ep. 52: Being Wrong Has Never Been So Much Fun

2026/03/22

I admit it freely. I was wrong about a lot this season. The Jackets are currently fighting for a playoff spot and making me eat crow...and I am absolutely ok with that! In this episode I will talk about players I misjudged and where the Jackets currently stand with only a few weeks to go in the season.

In a move that shocked the hockey world, the Blue Jackets fired head coach Dean Evason and replaced him with Rick Bowness. In this episode I'll discuss why I am torn about the move. Ep. 46: Just Gloom

BOOM and Gloom ·

2025/12/15

There hasn't been much of anything positive to talk about lately when it comes to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Just absolute gloom. At publication time, the Jackets once again find themselves in dead last in the Eastern Conference. In this episode I'll discuss my ideas for what could and should be done moving forward and how the Jackets have fallen to this point. Ep. 44: The Worst Third Period Team Ever

BOOM and Gloom ·

2025/11/23

What have we learned about the Blue Jackets lately? They can't seem to figure out how to deliver that knockout punch in the third period. In this episode, I'll talk about that and:1. Ep. 43: The Unluckiest Team Ever

BOOM and Gloom ·

2025/11/07

The Jackets are off to a 7-6 start and have looked very underwhelming, especially during the last two games. Games the should have won. I take a look at those last two games, what happened, and what I think needs to be done to right the ship...if anything can be done. I'll also explain in detail why I believe the Blue Jackets are by far the unluckiest NHL team in the last 25 years.
