There is a strange moment in any long journey when the work is mostly done, the big day is almost here, and suddenly time seems to slow down. You are standing on the edge of go time. For weeks, months, or even years, you have been building toward something. You have sacrificed, adjusted, doubted, recommitted, and kept showing up. And then you arrive at the final stretch where there is not much left to add. The preparation is already there. That can be one of the hardest parts.Because when something

Episode 42: Two Things Can Be True.

Still Becoming ·

2026/09/20

In this episode of Still Becoming, Bobby explores the idea that two things can be true at the same time — even when those truths seem to contradict each other. The episode starts with a simple frustration from a morning run. The workout was going well. The splits were there. Nothing was technically wrong. But the run didn’t feel the way Bobby imagined it should. He had been chasing that smooth, almost “buttery” feeling where everything clicks, and instead the run felt harder and less fluid than

Episode 41: Stepping Into the Pitch Black.

Still Becoming ·

2026/09/13

Episode Summary — “Stepping Into the Pitch Black”There’s something intimidating about stepping into something when you have no idea what’s waiting for you.No guarantees. No clear outcome. No promise that the thing you’re chasing is going to work. It’s like standing at the edge of a place that’s completely dark. You can’t see what’s ahead, and your mind immediately starts filling in the blanks. What if I fail? What if I embarrass myself? What if I waste my time? What if I get hurt? What if this goes

Episode 41: You Can Scared and Still Go.

Still Becoming ·

2026/09/06

In this episode of Still Becoming, I talk about something I’ve been learning in a much more personal way lately: courage doesn’t mean you stop being scared.A lot of us grow up with this idea that being brave means feeling confident, strong, and ready. We think that once we’ve worked on ourselves enough, the fear should disappear. But that’s not always how it works. Sometimes fear is still there. Anxiety is still loud. Doubt still shows up. And sometimes the strongest thing you can do is move forward

Episode 40: "You Don't Have to Feel Ready."

Still Becoming ·

2026/08/30

You Don’t Have to Feel ReadyHow often do we wait to feel ready before we do something? We tell ourselves we’ll start when we feel more confident. We’ll take the chance when we’re less afraid. We’ll chase the goal when life settles down. We’ll put ourselves out there when we finally feel like we belong. But what if that feeling never comes? In this episode of Still Becoming, I want to talk about something I’ve been learning in my own life: you don’t have to feel ready to move forward.Last week, I talked

Still Becoming ·

You Don’t Have to Know How This EndsWe spend so much of our lives wanting certainty. We want to know that if we put in the work, everything is going to pay off. We want to know that the goal we’re chasing is possible, that the risk we’re taking is worth it, and that the road we’re walking is actually leading somewhere. But life rarely gives us those guarantees. In this episode, “You Don’t Have to Know How This Ends,” we explore what it means to keep moving forward even when you have no idea how things

Episode 38: Why Not? Let's Find Out.

Still Becoming ·

2026/08/16

Why Not? Let’s Find Out.We spend so much of our lives trying to know the outcome before we ever take the first step. We ask ourselves questions like, “What if I fail?” “What if I’m not good enough?” “What if I try and it doesn’t work?” We want certainty before action, proof before effort, and confidence before risk. But the truth is, most meaningful things in life begin without any guarantee at all.Sometimes the best answer to all of those questions is simply: Why not? Let’s find out. There is

Still Becoming ·

2026/08/09

I want to talk to the person who’s frustrated right now because they’re coming back from an injury, an illness, or just a season where life forced them to slow down.I know how tempting it is to want everything back immediately. You wake up feeling a little better and your first thought is, “Maybe I can jump right back into where I left off.” Trust me, I understand that feeling. I’ve had it more times than I can count. But here’s something I hope you’ll remember. You don’t have to rush your

Episode 36 "Who Told You That You Needed Permission?"

Still Becoming ·

2026/08/02

Episode Summary – “Who Told You That You Needed Permission?”In this episode of Still Becoming, I explore a question that has been quietly shaping so many of our lives: Who told us we needed permission to believe in ourselves? Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that confidence wasn’t something we could simply have. Instead, we began believing it had to be earned through accomplishments, perfection, or the approval of others. We wait until we’ve proven enough before allowing ourselves to

Still Becoming ·

2026/07/26

In this episode of Still Becoming, I explore a feeling I have struggled to put into words: I feel confidence growing inside me, but I am not always sure I am allowed to have it.The confidence is there. I feel it when I complete a difficult workout, when I reflect on everything I have overcome, when I write something meaningful, or when I imagine what I may still be capable of accomplishing. There are moments when I truly believe in myself and feel proud of the person I am becoming. But almost

His body felt flat, the pace was not there, and he could not find the sharpness or rhythm he expected. Normally, a workout like this might trigger a full mental spiral. Still Becoming: The Day I Couldn't Go Faster

Still Becoming ·

2026/07/05

This week reminded me that growth isn’t always obvious, and sometimes the hardest part of pursuing a goal is trusting the process when the evidence seems to suggest otherwise.I recently had one of the most frustrating workouts I’ve experienced in a long time. I felt healthy, relaxed, and ready to run faster, but every time I tried to accelerate, my pace barely changed. I wasn’t exhausted, injured, or struggling to breathe—I simply couldn’t find another gear. As the workout continued, frustration

Still Becoming: Trusting the Pattern

Still Becoming ·

2026/06/28

This week’s episode of Still Becoming is about something many of us experience but rarely talk about—the frustration of improving without feeling like we’re improving.I share how this week’s training left me questioning myself. During a workout of 600-meter repeats, I found myself constantly fighting the pace. I knew I was capable of running it, but instead of settling into a rhythm, I kept starting too slow, speeding up, and feeling like every repetition was the first time I’d ever run that pace
