In the wet preparation of ceramic bodies, dispersants play an essential role in controlling slurry rheology, allowing high solids content to be maintained while ensuring flow properties compatible with the production process. In this episode, we examine the main factors affecting slurry rheology: viscosity and thixotropy, raw material characteristics, composition of the aqueous phase, and the different chemical families and mechanisms of action of deflocculants. We also explore the role of dosage and

Which came first: chemistry or chemicals? More importantly, why does chemistry often get a positive reaction while chemicals get a bad rap? In this episode of the Smart Acids Podcast, Andy Erickson and Jumoke Onibokun are joined by Sarah Scruggs Brandt, Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs at the American Chemistry Council, to explore the public perception of chemistry and chemicals, common industry misconceptions, and the critical role chemistry plays in our everyday lives.&...

Sesame seeds are more than a garnish. In Episode 31 of Molecules Matter with Dr. Dan, we explore sesamol, a small antioxidant compound with a connection to how we prepare our food.Much of sesame’s sesamol forms during processing, when heat converts a related compound called sesamolin into sesamol. That means roasting changes more than flavor—it changes the seed’s chemistry.Inside the lab, sesamol does more than neutralize free radicals. Researchers are studying how it activates Nrf2, a pathway that

Optics and waves can become relatively easy MCAT points once you stop memorizing isolated equations and start recognizing predictable patterns. This study guide walks through converging and diverging lenses, mirrors, the thin-lens equation, sound waves, and the Doppler effect. Special attention is given to common MCAT traps and how Doppler ultrasound uses changes in frequency to determine blood velocity.

On this bonus episode we answer a listener's question about antibiotic resistance arising from agriculture by diving into the story of colistin, an antibiotic that is used as a last resort treatment. When colistin resistance was first reported in animals and humans, the public health community was understandably panicked, prompting governments to take action to regulate its use.

In this podcast, we discuss How lower temperature cycles on washing machines and dishwashers are driving a change in surfactant formulations - along with the countervailing pressures to accomplish washing more quickly.Tekno Scienze Publisher is an academic publisher in Italy. It publishes 3 scientific journals: Chimica Oggi – Chemistry Today, Agro Food Industry Hi Tech, and Household and Personal Care Today. Always attentive to scientific innovation, the TKS Group organizes events including the

This video is abouthow training is changing in the AI world: Continuing coverage of Jancast #221, I discuss this with my old co-host, Mark Warner, since he's involved in real-life, face-to-face training. We will discuss what he's been up to, how he sees recent advances in AI video, and how that fits with the more traditional training he does with ISSA and others. Someone should be using all of the CMI data to create LLM (large Language Model) for the cleaning industry, if they are not already...

🍒 Can a sour little fruit help you sleep and recover? In Episode 29 of Molecules Matter with Dr. Dan, we explore tart cherry juice—and the science behind its reputation. Two groups of compounds drive the story:🌙 Melatonin, which helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle.🔴 Polyphenols, including the anthocyanin pigments that give tart cherries their deep red color and show anti-inflammatory activity in lab studies. But what does the human research suggest?💤 SLEEP: Small trials suggest tart cherry juice
